Last week we brought you the unfortunate news that our home, Lowfield, had suffered an electrical fault and was left without power, casting doubt upon upcoming fixtures and events.
We are pleased to bring you the following update.
Work begun today (Monday) at Lowfield to repair the main board and restore power to Lowfield. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the issue, it is not an overnight fix. We are hoping that the work will be completed in the next 7 days but at this juncture, we cannot put a definite time and date on the completion of the job.
Our maintenance team are working flat out to get things restored so that you can continue to enjoy all that Lowfield has to offer. However, with uncertainty over the length of the repairs, we had to take the unfortunate move to postpone our next two first team games at the club.
To confirm:
Saturday 5th October v Burnham Ramblers is POSTPONED and moved to February 8th.
Tuesday 8th October v FC Baresi is POSTPONED and moved to October 15th.
We are hoping that the Tottenham Women's game scheduled for Wednesday the 9th of October v London Bees in a 7:30pm kick off will go ahead, but we will confirm via our social media channels as soon as possible. There is also the possibility that we will be hosting some friendly matches at the club to fill the gap, as the pitch floodlights fortunately are unaffected by the fault, but without clubhouse power, and essentially heating, lighting and hot water, we are unable to host league football. Again, stay tuned to social media for announcements.
Whilst this has been a testing period for everyone at the club, just as we had got going upon our return to Lowfield, there have been some positives.
Our youth section have continued to make good use of the club on Sundays, hosting several games on the hallowed turf, including Hoddesdon Town Under 18s vs Stevenage Borough U18 Whitecaps this past Sunday. To see Danny Smith's excellent photo gallery from that day, click HERE.
OIR FC have continued to play their Herts County League Premier Division home games at Lowfield on Saturday's too and have brought some welcome football to the club during this period. To find out more on their ground share this season, as well as news, fixtures and results, click HERE.
The first team also had an extremely pleasing away result on Saturday, defeating Newbury Forest 3-2 at The Oakside Stadium. Bailey Eden grabbed the opening goal inside 30 seconds and debutant Stuart Zanone grabbed two goals to begin life as a Lilywhite in style.
